Black Acre presents some long awaited new material from avant garde Scottish producer Loops Haunt which should be listed in the Urban Dictionary under the meaning of "Next Level". Approach the three tracks here with the advance warning they are swamped with intensity and likely to shred your cerebral cortex like pancetta, not least the opening track "Ark" which channels the kind of epic metal refrains Justice have failed miserably at executing in the opening moments, before breathlessly emerging after a heavily compressed mid section as expansive bass heavy soundscapes of the highest order. Both "Chalk Knots" and "Eagles Fated Pilars" offer further challenging listening material and you get the impression that there are few other producers out there possible of stretching sounds in such a manner. If Skrillex and his du(m)bstep cohorts are the nadir of the genre then Loops Haunt at least offers some insight in how to push it forward.
